Pride- It comes before YOUR inevitable fall!
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil;
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 16: 17-19
Pride is a dangerous issue that a lot of people deal with. Have you ever asked yourself “Do I deal with Pride” or “Am I a prideful person?” The bible says pride comes before a fall, and it makes so much sense to me. We all have to look within ourselves and determine whether or not this is an issue that could possibly destroy our lifestyle, our relationships, or even us completely fulfilling our purpose.
If had not been for God we would not be where we are today. Sometimes we take for granted where we are in our lives, and we truly don’t appreicate all the blessings God has given us, but this attitude is wrong. We must always have a humble attitude, and remember that God loves us, and even though we may not have everything we want, God has provided us with everything we need.
This is a great quote from an article I found online discussing pride “Why is pride so sinful? Pride is giving ourselves the credit for something that God has accomplished. Pride is taking the glory that belongs to God alone and keeping it for ourselves. Pride is essentially self-worship. Anything we accomplish in this world would not have been possible were it not for God enabling and sustaining us. “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” (1 Corinthians 4:7). That is why we give God the glory—He alone deserves it.” http://www.gotquestions.org/pride-Bible.html
God has saved us from Eternal damnation, he has kept us from all hurt, harm, and danger, seen and unseen. He is our Protector, the lover of our soul, and the one who wakes us up every morning. Pride has no place in our hearts or in our minds. If you struggle with pride, ask God to remove it, it may take time, but he will. He loves you, and I do too!
